Acoustic Source Separation: Fundamental Issues
نویسنده
چکیده
Acoustic source separation aims at estimating the contribution of each acoustic source from the signals measured at an array of microphones. The measurement signals are usually mixtures of acoustic sources and some noise contributions. When mixtures are assumed to be linear instantaneous mixtures, they can be separated by the method known as blind source separation or independent component analysis. However, in real world applications, the measurement signals are delayed and superimposed sources, i.e., convolutive mixtures of sources. In this paper, we present a fundamental theory and an implementation for blind separation of convolved mixtures of acoustic sources.

متن کاملFundamental Limitation of Frequency Domain Blind Source Separation for Convolved Mixture of Speech
Despite several recent proposals to achieve Blind Source Separation (BSS) for realistic acoustic signals, the separation performance is still not enough. In particular, when the length of an impulse response is long, the performance is highly limited. In this paper, we consider the reason for the poor performance of BSS in a long reverberation environment. First, we show that it is useless to b...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Particle Separation in the Fluid Flow in a Microchannel Including Spiral and Acoustic Regions
Particulate separation has many applications in medicine, biology and industry. In this research, the separation of polystyrene particles with a diameter of 10, 20 and 30 μm in the fluid flow of a microchannel is investigated. The microchannel consists of a spiral region and a straight region under the influence of acoustic waves. In the spiral region, the particles under hydrodynamic effects u...

متن کاملBlind Separation of Jointly Stationary Correlated Sources
The separation of unobserved sources from mixed observed data is a fundamental signal processing problem. Most of the proposed techniques for solving this problem rely on independence or at least uncorrelation assumption for source signals. This paper introduces a technique for cases that source signals are correlated with each other. The method uses Wold decomposition principle for extracting ...
